APPOINTMENT DAY CONT.

The appointment went fine. I wasn't nervous until about 10 minutes before we went in. We had a translator and the a lady from the SDA (State Dept. of Adoption). They read everything from one boy who was healthy and just over 2 years old. His birthday is 3-18-05. He is about 7 months behind developmentally which is minor. I asked about girls. They all had severe health problems. I asked about siblings. They told us about twin girls. One had severe health problems and one was fine. We have decided to go to Simferopol (pronounced Sim Fur Pole) which is very close to the Black Sea. It is either an 18 hr train ride or a 2 hr flight. We are planning on the plane ride. No one has lost luggage on this type flight. Yeah! We hope to leave tomorrow night. We will not get our referral paperwork until some time between 5-6 PM tomorrow. James did fine before and during the meeting.

We walked back from our meeting and did some shopping. We tried to eat at an Irish Pub but the power went out so we ended up at McDonald's in the underground. It's just like home. We took pictures of St. Andrew's, St. Michael's, and St. Sophia's. These are three cathedrals fairly close by. I will try to post several pictures in a minute.

We didn't get to eat pizza last night. We were told "No tables." We couldn't get the lady to understand we wanted to wait. We will try again tonight.

We won't have any pictures of Maxim for at least a day or two. The SDA said the caregiver at the orphanage said he is clever, smart, and handsome. We can't wait to meet him. Please pray everything goes well.

Love,

Teresa & James

P.S. - I need to work on my picture placement.

Glad everything went fine. So your off tomorrow to meet the little boy that is just over two. I know you both are starting to feel more anxious and excited. Will your access to the internet be limited where you are going or do you know yet and will a translator be with you?

Hello,
I am hooked on blogs. I adopted from Simferopol in April 2005. An 8 year old girl. Sounds like you might be getting a younger child. Just now that even people you don't know are praying for you.

Glad to hear things went fine. James good to see you in a picture. I was beginning to wonder if you were the one lost or the luggage. Hope you will have pictures of the baby to show soon.

Hi! We are Cris & Karen Mahy. I grew up in church with Mr. Buckelew & he told my mom of your adoption. We rejoice with you in this miraculous journey! We were blessed the summer of 2005 with and addition to our family in Ukraine. Our daughter is now 13 and a marvelous blessing in our family. None of us can even imagine life without her nor before her. Ours is truely a story of miracles as so many are who walk the path of adoption. We want to encourage you.... God has a very special plan for you and your family! The enemy would like to place snags at every turn but hold on!... have faith!.... walk boldly in the plans God has for you and He WILL see you through! If there is any way we can be of help or encouragement to you please do not hesitate to e-mail us... cmahy@comcast.net We have several connections in Ukraine [though not in the town you are visiting] & we are even coming there bringing a team for ministry to our daughter's home town at the end of July. Our prayers are with you! Be blessed!

James and Teresa,

You guys have had a rough start to your stay (luggage, etc.) We're glad that you got a little boy, maybe he'll be like our Brodie. We hope your trip south will go smoothly and that your son will bond quickly with you. We're so excited for you, it reminds us of our first visit with our son. Make sure someone gets a picture of that first visit with your son. It will be priceless to you, "mom and dad". We're praying for you!!

I am so happy that everything is finally going much better for ya'll. Hope things will go good today. I can't wait to see the children. I looked at the Jordan pictures and the kids are so cute. It would be so hard to pick. God will lead and guide you to the one that is just right for you, and you'll be just the right Mom and Dad for him or her or them.
Saw your Mom today she sure is missing you. Gave your Dad a hug yesterday from you. Everyone is excited and await news each day of what is going on. Hope you can get some good food. James are you surviving without the Dr.Peppers? Miss seeing you at work. I love seeing the pictures of the area and the children. Can't wait till the next entry. Miss you bunches. Still remembering you in our prayers.
Love,
Becca
P.S. The sunday school class said to tell you hi and that they are all praying for you too!
