QUALITY TIME WITH JACOB

We were able to spend a total of 4 hours with Jacob today, from 9:30-11:30 and 4-6. It was good. We learned a lot about him. He is strong willed, independent, and a climber (very much like his cousin Matthew). He wants to do things his way in his time. He loves Cheerios and bananas. He likes Goldfish but not as much as Cheerios, and he knows exactly where to find them. We were able to spend time alone with him. He does so much better with just us. If a caregiver was in the room he wouldn’t have anything to do with us. We couldn’t go outside with him without a caregiver per instructed by the doctor. She was afraid he might faint. I don’t think he would have. He is taking to us pretty fast. We may try to go outside tomorrow. The little playroom we were in gets kind of warm. He sat in my lap for a long time this morning. He was fine when we left this morning but this afternoon was a little different. When we took him back to the caregiver I was holding him and he didn’t want to go to her. He cried a little when I gave him to her, so we had to distract him, you guessed it, with Cheerios. James held him once this morning, but this afternoon Jacob sat in his lap because he had the Cheerios. Bribery works every time.

We have tried a little Ukrainian food and so far neither one of us is very fond of it. I’m already tired of pizza. I think we are having cereal for supper. Sounds like home.

A little bad news today. Andrew probably won’t be back to Simferopol until Friday, which means it is very likely we won’t make it home when scheduled. I just pray before the 4th of July at this point. Please pray hard.
Love,

J,T,J

The pictures are great, it looks like he is warming up just fine. He looks like he likes your sun-glasses and the play phone just like his cousin Matthew. Maybe tomorrow ya'll can take him out. I agree, he doesn't look like he is so stressed he might faint. Sorry to hear that your date to come home may be postponed but it gives you more time to bond with Jacob. I love the pictures so keep sending them. Hope your clothes are dry by now.
Love you all,
Melissa

We've been reading the blog entries since ya'll left, just haven't posted. It looks like things are falling right in place! Jacob's a handsome little man and we can't wait to meet him. Sorry to hear the stay may be prolonged, but it's only for a short time. We're praying for ya'll and are looking forward to you THREE getting home! James, I'll do my best to double up on my daily DrPepper servings so sales won't take a hit.

Those are the most awesome pictures!! We're so happy for you, it really looks like you have been visiting with him for a while, not just for the actual first day. God is so good to have made it a smooth first day. Good to hear he didn't want to go back to the caregiver. Way to go "mama and papa"!! What's up with Andrew? You need to clobber him when he gets back.

About Ukrainian food...How did you guys manage ordering without Andrew? English menu? Have you noticed that there are very few overweight people over there? We noticed that and the fact that we didn't see many people with eyeglasses. We're praying for you.

WOW!!! Prayers are answered again. He seems to be warming up and feeling more comfortable. He really looks so happy with ya'll. Anad it will just keep getting better and better. He will probably even come to you without the cheerios before long.
The pictures are so good. Your Mom brought the pictures that you sent to Wal Mart to church, they are so good. We got to thinking - Jacob was born about the time you first started into the adoption process. So I believe he was meant to be - just for you.
This week is going to be so much fun getting to know Jacob better. Hope you get to go outside tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about Andrew. Mabye he will return soon.
James, I told J.T. he better keep the displays up and looking good. That he has big shoes to fill. I haven't seen Frank to keep him updated, but I will when I see him.
We love and miss you much.
Love and Hugs,
Becca

thing from Mondays posting.
I couldn't read much at
work. We all did look at
the pics. It was SO GOOD to
see him smiling while with
you and James.God has
answered our prayers for
him to warm up to you pretty
fast.I too think you won't
need "Cheeros and Fishyfish"
as Matthew calls them.
He just looks sweeter every
time you send new pics.

Well I was going to tell you Johnny said you needed to post more pictures, but you have. He reads the pictures on all the blogs. He's an addict too. There is compitition with who finds out the new info first. We all need help. You all look like you are having fun and bonding so well. I am happy for you. Betsy says Jacob favors you in the face and James with the dark hair. We are praying for ya'll to make it home before July 4th. See ya soon.

Sorry correction here. Jacob looks like James with the dark eyes. His hair in the pictures looks the color of yours Teresa.
