FIRST MEETING!!!

We finally arrived in Simferopol after a 15 hr train ride. Again we have had little sleep mostly due to a very old and rickety train. We went to meet the Inspector for our referral to Jacob Maxim’s orphanage. That didn’t take to long. Then we went straight (by way of a lot of curvy and bumpy back roads) to the orphanage. We met with the doctor first. The director wasn’t available. The doctor told us alittle about Jacob Maxim from birth to now. He was born on March 18, 2005 weighing 6 lb 1 oz and 20 inches long. We have very little information on the mother and no information on the father. Jacob Maxim is healthy with a few minor issues that will work themselves out over time. Occasionally when he gets upset or anxious he will faint. He also has a low immune system and catches colds easily. He is alittle small for his age but he will catch up in no time. We got to see him for about 10 minutes today. He is sick right now and we couldn’t hold him or even go into the same room. He seems to have a little congestion. No fever. Hopefully tomorrow we can hold him. He is so cute and has the sweetest smile. He seems so happy. He is just starting to talk. He didn’t say anything to us, just smiled. I gave him a car and he really liked it. Then in a few minutes the lady that was holding him put him down and I rolled another car to him. He smiled and picked it up. It was great meeting him but we really missed not being able to hold him. James has already been called Papa twice, but not by Jacob. There were two other little boys in the sick room and one called him Papa twice and when we were leaving he said Bye Bye.

We are exhausted and I can’t seem to think of all I want to say. Maybe by tomorrow I’ll be somewhat back to normal.

God is Good. Please keep us all in your prayers.

Lots of Love,

James & Teresa

Checking the blog every hour has paid off. He is adorable. In the picture his hair and eyes look brown and he looks about the same size as Matthew. It sounds like ya'll have decided on Jacob Maxim. I like it, he already looks like a Jacob. It's wonderful to finally put a face to (hopefully) my new nephew. He is precious! I'm headed to the post office later today, I'll check on the cost of shipping. Call when you can. Love you both.

He is so adorable. I hate to hear he was sick. I pray he will have a speedy recovery. Once he gets some of this southern cooking in him, he will grow quickly.

The Lord has surely blessed you both. Just to be able to have made it there safely and to be able to explore this country that you have never been to is amazing. I know that he will ask you questions about where he came from when he gets older (or whoever you do get to adopt, hopefully him, he's adorable) and you'll be able to tell him all about this beautiful place he is from.
I honestly can't believe that it's finally happening! So many years of waiting for that moment to see his face....

I will remember ya'll in my prayers.

Please see Karina's note that accidentlly ended up on day one's page.

We continue to rejoice with you... Jacob Maxim is precious! A TRUE gift of God! When you can't be at the orphanage, enjoy the wonder of Ukraine. You are in one of the most beautiful regions and at the time of year everything is in bloom. The fruits & veggies are delicious!

I checked the blog this morning and there wasn't any news, but during the day at work I couldn't help but feel like there might be some news. I logged on and could not believe my eyes. I saw a beautiful angel looking back at me. Tears filled my eyes and I was overwhelmed with such wonder. Jacob Maxim is so cute. What a sweet smile and beautiful features. I knew that God would lead you to the greatest blessing you will ever know. How wonderful is His love and grace. I know this has been a long journey but look at what great the rewards are.
I can't wait to meet him. We will have a lot fun playing and getting to know him. He will adjust and fit right in, in no time. Hope you are able to get some rest now that you are finally there. I know he is worth all the waiting and wondering what would be in store.
May God Bless and open all the doors and hearings and any other proceedings you may have to go through.
He is so precious! God truely is good. We are still praying and missing you very much.
Love and Hugs to you both,
Becca
