BUSY DAY!!

This will be a long post. We are currently at the apartment we moved to today. I am typing everything in Word then will Copy and Paste. This helps with the time we are paying for at the Internet Café.

I will start with our day then move onto responsive to Comments. By the way, after writing out the responds to as many comments I could I realized I will not be able to respond to all comments, but please be assured we truly joy reading each and every one. They are such a tremendous help with the homesickness.

We have had a busy day. We have been to the Inspector’s Office where there was a demonstration today (very calm though). I will try to post a picture. Then we had to get some papers notarized. We moved from the hotel to an apartment today. The hotel was expensive. We met with another doctor today. Jacob is still fine. We got the see him for a few minutes. I got to hold him for about 2 seconds. He is scared of us and wanted to go back to the nurse. Pray he will come around soon. The other little boy that called James papa the other day called James daddy today. They are all so sweet. We found out Jacob weighs 19 lbs. and is 31.5 in. tall. Some people have asked about the size of clothes he will wear. We still aren’t real sure. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.

We will be traveling all day tomorrow to get more paperwork signed. Hopefully, this will then allow us to start proceedings for us to be able to go to court. Our friends, Clark & Jenny had a mandatory 7 day wait after all paperwork was finalized before they could start court proceedings. We found out today we are in a region that does not require the wait. Thank you Lord. We may not be able to post tomorrow, but if we do I’m sure it will be short.

Let me back up alittle. We left Kyiv with a population of 4.5 million to come to Simferopol with a population of 1.5 million. Kyiv was convenient and we could walk most places (good exercise). Now we are in Simferopol 550 miles from Kyiv and so far it isn’t very convenient and we are having to use taxis (and boy is that a story in itself). Taxis aren’t cheap. Simferopol only has tourists in the 5 summer months, therefore things cost more to help them thru the other months.

The taxi rides were explained on someone else’s blog as a roller coaster ride at Disney World. I would have to say James & I agree. There isn’t a lot to see here in Simferopol that we have found yet. If there is anyone reading our blog that has been here and can tell us about any sites please do so.

We have found an Internet Café that is cheap to use and is next door to great pizza. James may not lose weight and I may gain. If we were still in Kyiv that wouldn’t be a problem. Kyiv has LOTS of stairs, escalators that are not working most of the time, and we have only found 2 elevators.

No hope for Dr. Pepper. James is still surviving on Coke. Sorry Frank. He will make it up when he gets back to work. :)

Joann that adopted from Simferopol - I have been hooked on blogs for almost 2 years. Mostly, Ukraine ones. Any advise? Thank you for your prayers.

TOOoo – Are you trying to give me a heart attack, triples?? Just kidding. They did tell us about twins, but it wasn’t possible.

Shannon & Reba – Sorry to hear that your trip has been postponed.

Carl & Sharon – It was so good to hear from you. We will have to get together so the boys can meet. They may become friends even though there is more a year age difference.

For you who don’t know Carl & Sharon, they adopted from Ukraine in January this year. Some of you have seen the pictures of Brodie and all have thought he is cute.

Becca – I’m not sure where to start with your comments. They are wonderful. Keep they coming. I would love to hear from Breanna. Tell the Sunday School class hi and thanks for the prayers and I miss them.

Donna – It’s good to hear from you and Jim. Thanks for the help getting us here. God Bless.

Rylee – It was great hearing from you. You had your own memorable adventure last week too. Enjoy your time at Troy University. We love you very much too.

Robbie – It was good hearing from you. Lauri and Hunter are great. We spent our first day here with Lauri mostly at the Coffee Shop blogging. It was great, Lauri is still calling and checking up on us. We will try to make it back to the Irish Pub. I know what you mean about the smells.

To the Whole Frachisuer (sp??) bunch – Thank you all for your comments and prayers. We love you all and can’t wait for you to meet Jacob.

Shauna & Haley – We can’t wait for you to meet your new cousin. We love you.

Tammy T. – Your comments have been wonderful. You guys aren’t the only ones having a good cry. James & I have to fight the tears sitting in the Internet Café. I think we are getting a few stares. That’s OK though. We love you and Phillip.

Anna – It was good hearing from you. We are trying to find out as much as we can about Ukraine so we can answer Jacob’s questions when he has them. There will be a lot of unanswered questions. Just pray we will know what to say to help him the though process. Where’s Alisa? I haven’t heard from her since the beginning.

Cris & Karen Mahy – It was good hearing from you. I will keep your email address just in case I have questions. With all the excitement I can’t think of any right now.

Karina – I’m so glad you love America and I hope Jacob is going to love it too. Thank you for writing on our blog and for your prayers. Do you have anything you can tell me that will help Jacob with all the changes?

Michele – I have now encountered 2 squat pots. I will leave it at that. :) Blogs are very addictive. Thank you for telling about Sunny & Jason’s blog. We will be here at least 3 more weeks.

Mama, Daddy, and Melissa – We love the comments. We really love talking with you. Skype.com is great. It allows us time to talk with costing an arm and leg. We miss you all very much and love you even more.

I’m going to post a few pictures. One of James & Ben (one of our facilitators), one of Sasha, our facilitator (Melissa – Sasha is a nickname for Alexander), and one of Andrew standing next to a picture of an adorable child, he is our translator.

We love all of you very much.

God Bless!!

James, Teresa, & Jacob

Wow, 19 lbs,we will have to work on that when he gets home. I glad you got to hold him today. Is he doing better with the cold. How long do they say it usually take before they start to warm up a little. Still no luck on finding a way to ship you anything, so far no one will ship personal items. You said at least 3 more weeks does that put ya'll past June 30th date to leave. I showed everyone his picture at work today, they all think he is adorable. Talk to you soon. Hope you get some rest soon and I hope he starts warming up soon.

Hey I am sorry that it took me so long but I don't have the internet anymore. So I am at Amy's house. Jacob is the cutest little boy I have seen. I am so happy for you both. God has finally let you have one of his most precious gifts, the love of a child. There is no other feeling that compares to that love. Amy says hey and to tell you he's cute. We hope that you get to come home with him soon and all three of you have a safe trip. I will keep in touch.

Hey guys looks like your doing great! Jacob is a cutie pie! He just needs a little bit of Dr. Pepper to fix him right up. I'm glad you found a pizza place and Coke so James can make it. Lots of prayers have been prayed for you and will continue til you get home. We can't wait to see little Jacob sitting in a pew at High Point. We hope everything works out and you have a speedy trip home! We love both and we'll keep praying!

Here is our favorite restaurant in Simferopol. It is called Steak House Bravo. The restaurant is on Kuybysheva St, north of the roundabout intersection that's on the north side of Detskii (Children's) Park. They don't serve steak (don't know why the name :?) but the food was great and they had an English menu. (see our blog for March 31, 2005 for a picture) Good Ukrainian food. We enjoyed our time in Simferopol. We also took excursions to Yalta -- beautiful. Good luck getting your court date.

T&J,
Glad you guys were able to get into an apartment. You will be a lot more comfortable. I love the pictures of Jacob. He has the most beautiful eyes. He will warm up to you soon. I imagine that everything is so new with unfamiliar people around him. When he gets to be more comfortable with you he will probably be wanting to go with you instead of staying there. We will be praying for him and you as you get to spend more time with him.
I can't wait for us all to be together and get to know him too.
Our whole world has revolved around this blog. We check it everytime we get to a computer. I can't wait till we can sit down together and you tell me all about the whole trip. I know you can only print a brief description of what must be happening.
We are missing you and give Jacob a hug for us. We love you and you are still in our prayers.
Love and Hugs,
Becca

James and Teresa,

Jacob is a doll. I'm sorry that he has been sick. All you need to do is show up every day, twice a day if you can, play with him, talk to him, and you two will mama and papa before long. He might even cry when you have to leave. That was awesome the first time that happened with Brodie. Hang in there, I remember Carl and I wondering if we were getting through to him, bonding, now it's like he has been ours all along. It will all come together for you too.

Theresa--Love that you wore the YoungLife Shirt in your picture with Jacob and the nurse! Way to represent!! :) We loved the update and the pictures. Each day will get better, I am sure. I have to keep reminding myself that we are basically taking them from the only moms they've known and we are complete strangers to them. Crackers and bananas and juice has helped us. And taking a toy he can hold (like a matchbox car) also helps. I will call you in the next few days to catch up. He is a DOLL and I am so happy for you!! Blessings, lauri

Hey you guys. I know that Jacob is going to begin very soon to love you both as much as you already love him. Kayla really liked seeing the picture of him. It is very cloudy here today but we got a tiny bit of rain. I hope you enjoy your day (or night probably by now).

Teresa and James,
Jacob is such a cutie. I know he will start to warm up to ya'll very soon. It probably doesn't help right now that he has a cold and feels bad. You know how kids are when they don't feel good. They just want to be with someone familiar.
Have you and James tried any "local" food? Or is James like your uncle Brad and doesn't care much for "weird food". I still can't believe that ya'll have already been there a week. I guess it feels like it to you though. I will tell Susan that I left you a message today when I see her tomorrow night. Melinda and Chuck are at the State park camping and everybody is going down there to eat tomorrow night. You and James take care and we are all looking forward to meeting our new nephew/grandson/cousin ect.We will be praying that all goes well and ya'll will be home soon with your new son.

Love ya'll
Kathy and Dale
